The second day of competition at the Strzegom arena as part of the FEI Eventing European Championship for Juniors and Young Riders has come to an end, and with it, the full results of the dressage test in both categories are now available. Just like yesterday, the day proved to be another successful one for Team Germany.

German rider Anna-Maria Triskatis maintained her lead after two days of dressage in the Junior category and continues to hold first place in the individual rankings, which includes as many as 64 competitors.

However, second and third place saw some reshuffling after today’s performances. Ella Howard of Great Britain moved into second place. She was a team bronze medalist at the 2024 FEI Eventing European Championships for Ponies. The British rider already had experience in this category – back in 2022, also in Strzegom, she and her team finished just shy of the podium in fourth place.

Third place went to Rachel Weiler of France. She was part of the French team that finished fourth at last year’s Junior European Championship, also held in Strzegom. The year before that, in 2023 in Italy, her team claimed the bronze medal. The consistent form of the French team in recent seasons suggests they’ll once again be strong contenders for the top spots.

In the Young Riders category, German riders dominated the leaderboard – the top three positions are all held by team Germany, followed closely by the British riders. This ranking shows just how tight and competitive the battle is between these two nations.

For most of today’s test, Isabel Kristin Dalecki on Caruso JH, yesterday’s leader, held the top spot. However, she was eventually overtaken by her teammate, Hannah Busch on Crystal-Annabell, last year’s European Junior Champion, who confirmed her strong form now in the older age group as well. Third place went to another German rider – Isabella von Roeder, who finished just ahead of last year’s Young Rider European Champion, Jasmine Underwood.

Tomorrow, August 23rd, the cross-country phase will take place – one of the most exciting and visually spectacular parts of the competition.

“I walked the cross course with my coach, and I have to say – it’s tough. But these are the European Championship after all. It’s not supposed to be easy,”
says Hannah Busch, current leader in the Young Riders category and last year’s Junior Champion.
